You can chop firewood at mills, gather wheat on farms, buy leather from blacksmiths, and find linen in general stores or by killing the undead. I have both Dawnguard and Dragonborn and I'm using whatever version is the latest (don't know the exact number 1.9. Build wooden followers with this Skyrim mod. Started a new game with all the mods installed and ran again into the same issue. During the whole process was able to get ore from that mine (maybe I did it wrong). Then proceed to install them in small chunks (to save some time) hoping to find out which one might be causing the problem. I'm not sure what might be causing it because I un-installed all mods, advanced enough to get to that mine close to Riverwood and was able to get ore from a mine. I can't get any ore from mines, if I try my character stays there forever and never gets anything (and its not the usual bug, multiple tries yield the same result) and using a wood chopping block makes my character do 1 animation cycle, stop and not receive anything. After not being able to download stuff from here for a long time I now face a different problem.
